I've been a John Denver fan since the '70s and have all of the albums he released on vinyl, including this album. I didn't have it in digital form and desperately wanted it. I finally opted to download it in MP3 form as the CD is hard to come by at a decent price. This is one of those albums for which I like almost every song/5(9).

This cd is magnificent from start to finish (all 17 songs) and I'm thrilled that I decided to add it to my John Denver collection! It includes a great variety of music, and some lesser known songs that are absolutely beautiful and bring a tear to the eye (especially Eli's Song, The Wings That Fly Us Home, Whose Garden Was This)/5(86).

In Denver's context, this is risqué and finally becomes — when he sings, "Thought I must be in a dream/When she asked me if I wanted cream"—positively pornographic.

A more subdued album than the previous year's popular Windsong, Spirit is sprinkled with well-played country tunes ("Hitchhiker," "Baby, You Look Good to Me Tonight"), covers of old chestnuts ("Polka Dots and Moonbeams," "San Antonio Rose"), and contemplative ballads ("Like a Sad Song," "In the Grand Way"). While not an essential album for the casual fan, those exploring Denver.

You’re starting out strong, get a kick out of life, like to sing songs, be in the spotlight. And when everybody’s watching you shine so bright, (written by John Denver) San Antonio Rose. San Antonio Rose. Deep within my heart lies a melody, a song of old San Antone, And the spirit fills the darkness of the heavens. It fills the.
