Feb 11,  · Editors' Notes Sometime during the sessions for Between the Buttons in fall , The Rolling Stones saw Jimi Hendrix play live. Hendrix was in London then, doing what would become known as doing his Jimi Hendrix thing: playing the guitar with his head, his teeth, while it was on fire, and with a general degree of power and lightness that made everyone else look stopamprececmawa.surpeipermedislivelasaltingdimpfah.coed on: February 11,

One of the more obscure songs on the Rolling Stones ' Between the Buttons, "Miss Amanda Jones" is also one of the less memorable tunes on the record, though by this time Mick Jagger and Keith Richards ' songwriting ability had grown to the point where even the filler had some worthwhile qualities. Though there's a little blues-rock in "Miss Amanda Jones" -- particularly in the bleating opening .

This is the Stones doing Dylan better than Dylan does! "Complicated" is new territory for Mick. Whomever the subject here, the lyrics are kind to this woman, an odd appreciation for the female species without vitriol. And yet another "unknown" Stones' masterpiece. "Miss Amanda Jones" appears to be about a cross-dresser, but forget the lyrical.

The Rolling Stones' recordings are a matter of some controversy; many critics felt that they were compromising their raw, rootsy power with trendy emulations of the Beatles, Kinks, Dylan, and psychedelic stopamprececmawa.surpeipermedislivelasaltingdimpfah.coch this album with an open mind, though, and you'll find it to be one of their strongest, most eclectic LPs, with many fine songs that remain unknown to all but Stones devotees.

About “Miss Amanda Jones” Possibly the most Berry -esque tune in the whole album, it is dripping with the legend’s excitement, but has enough Stonesy bite to transform into something else.

  9. Meshakar says:
Not quite all-out psychedelia, Between the Buttons was a significant step forward for the Stones. The album brought a touch of the Kinks' music-hall whimsy ("Blow!" Mick Jagger commands before a kazoo solo on "Cool, Calm and Collected") to the band's sneering critique of the British class system.
